Conforms to UL486A Clause 10 Figure 10.1 Table 10.1, UL 486E Clause 9.3.2 Figure 4 Table 21,
An equipment wiring terminal shall be fastened to a length of conductor not less than 76 mm (3 in) longer than the height specified in Table 10, and shall be rigidly secured in a vertical position simulating actual service conditions.
The free end of the conductor shall be passed through a bushing of the size specified in Table 10.
The bushing shall be attached to an arm driven by a motor at a rate of approximately 9 rpm and in such a manner that the center of the bushing describes a circle in a horizontal plane. See Figure 10.1.
The circle shall have a diameter of 76 mm (3 in), and its center shall be vertically below the center of the conductor opening in the equipment wiring terminal.
The distance between the upper side of the bushing and the mouth of the equipment wiring terminal shall be within 12.7 mm (1/2 in) of height specified in Table 10.
Standard Outfit:
1 revolving platen with vertical axis of rotation, to move the conductor, clamped into the specimen,
1 accommodation for bushings, with angular contact ball bearing, built into the revolving platen, to guide the conductor clamping into the specimen.
1 AC motor to drive the revolving platen at 9± 2rpm, adjustable

1 circuit continuity tester to monitor the clamping point, to stop the timer and to switch off the whole machine,
1 rack mounted unit with control panel, with main switch, timer to preselect the desired test duration, push-button for inching, start and stop push-buttons as well as switch to activate monitoring by the circuit continuity tester.
